Amends TCA Title 49.
Beginning with the 2024-2025 academic year, and continuing for subsequent academic years, this bill authorizes a person who is employed as a full-time certified teacher in a public school in this state to receive a 25 percent reduction in the tuition at a public institution of higher education in this state for courses related to the person's employment as a teacher. This bill requires the state board of education to promulgate, by rule, a list of categories of courses to which the tuition discount applies. This bill also requires the Tennessee higher education commission to promulgate rules to implement this bill. This bill provides that reimbursement to a public institution of higher education in this state for the tuition discount provided by this bill is limited to the funds specifically appropriated for such purpose in the general appropriations act.
