Amends TCA Title 2; Title 3; Title 4 and Title 39.
Present law authorizes the legislative body of the replaced legislator's county of residence at the time of such legislator's election to elect an interim successor to serve until the election. This bill provides that if a local legislative body proceeds to elect a successor to fill a vacant seat of a member of either house of the general assembly and the vacancy was created due to the expulsion of a member for disorderly behavior, then the local legislative body is prohibited from electing the expelled legislator to be the successor to fill the vacant seat.
