Amends TCA Title 36.

Present law provides that, upon an initial finding of danger of substantial harm to the child, the court must then determine whether grandparent visitation would be in the best interests of the child. Upon such a determination, reasonable visitation may be ordered. This bill adds to the present law by clarifying that, for petitions for grandparent visitation filed with a court on or after the effective date of this bill, reasonable visitation must constitute, at a minimum, sufficient contact to reasonably permit a strong and meaningful relationship to be established with the child.
