Amends TCA Title 55.
ON MARCH 14, 2024, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED SENATE BILL 517, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 rewrites the bill to, instead, require, beginning on January 1, 2025, and each year thereafter, the department of revenue to verify that the owner of each disabled parking placard has not died. If a recipient of a disabled parking placard is found to be deceased, then the department must promptly invalidate the placard. ON MARCH 21, 2024, THE HOUSE SUBSTITUTED SENATE BILL 517 FOR HOUSE BILL 465 AND RESET SENATE BILL 517. ON MARCH 28, 2024, THE HOUSE FURTHER CONSIDERED SENATE BILL 517, ADOPTED AMENDMENT #2, AND PASSED SENATE BILL 517, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #2 names the bill the "Representative Darren Jernigan Act."
