Amends TCA Title 8, Chapter 50, Part 8; Title 8, Chapter 50, Part 9 and Title 49, Chapter 5, Part 8.
Present law prohibits grants of sick leave from the state sick leave bank for illness of any member of a participant's family. This bill authorizes sick leave to be granted to a member on account of an illness of the member's child. This bill makes the same changes to the sick leave banks for employees of public institutions of higher education and LEAs. ON MARCH 13, 2023, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED SENATE BILL 533, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 clarifies that sick leave may be granted under this bill to a member on account of an illness of the member's child if the child is a minor child.
