ON FEBRUARY 27, 2023, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED SENATE BILL 614, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 rewrites this bill to change present law relative to the East Tennessee State University College of Public Health, in cooperation with the Tennessee stroke systems task force, maintaining a statewide stroke database that compiles information and statistics on stroke care involving prevalence, mortality, and performance metrics that align with the stroke consensus metrics developed and approved by the American Heart Association, centers for disease control and prevention and the joint commission. Present law requires comprehensive stroke centers and primary stroke centers, and encourages all other hospitals, to report data quarterly consistent with nationally recognized stroke consensus measures on the treatment of individuals with confirmed stroke to the East Tennessee State University College of Public Health. This amendment rewrites this provision to expand the mandatory reporting to hospitals that have a certification from a department-approved, nationally recognized certifying body recognizing the hospital as capable of providing neuroendovascular treatment.
