Amends TCA Title 40.

This bill requires a magistrate to order a defendant to wear or carry a global positioning monitoring system device, and, if able, pay the operational costs for the device and electronic receptor device provided to the victim, if able, as a condition of bail if: (1) The magistrate finds the global positioning monitoring system device and receptor device are needed to protect the victim and to ensure the appearance of the defendant at a subsequent court proceeding; (2) The defendant was arrested for a criminal offense generally classified as "offenses against person," such as assault and homicide; or for violation of an order of protection; (3) The alleged offense or violation involved the strangulation or attempted strangulation of the victim or the use or threatened use of a firearm against the victim; and (4) A global positioning monitoring system is available in the jurisdiction.
