ON MARCH 2, 2023, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED SENATE BILL 894, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 revises this bill to only apply the exemption to a person under the age of 18 who is in the custody of the department of children's services. This amendment also changes the effective date of this bill from July 1, 2023, to January 1, 2024.
