Amends TCA Title 68, Chapter 140, Part 3.

This bill requires an annual training pay supplement in the amount of $800 to be paid to a full-time employed emergency medical services personnel of a licensed Tennessee ambulance service that has successfully completed an in-service training course, appropriate to the personnel’s rank and responsibility, of at least 40 hours duration at a training center. This mandatory supplemental bonus must be paid by the board of emergency medical services to the personnel in addition to the personnel’s regular salary. This bill provides that such personnel becomes eligible for the educational pecuniary incentive only upon the satisfactory completion, as determined by the board, of the 40 hours of annual training. However, a personnel who served, or serves, on active duty in the armed forces of the United States during any period of armed conflict prescribed by presidential proclamation or federal law must receive the cash salary supplement, if the armed service prevented or prevents the personnel from attending the in-service training program.
