Amends TCA Title 39.

Present law provides that a person commits burglary who, without the effective consent of the property owner commits certain actions of intrusion. One such prohibited action of intrusion is entering any freight or passenger car, automobile, truck, trailer, boat, airplane, or other motor vehicle with intent to commit a felony, theft, or assault or commits or attempts to commit a felony, theft, or assault. As used in present law, "enter" means intrusion of any part of the body or any object in physical contact with the body or any object controlled by remote control, electronic or otherwise. Present law classifies this type of burglary as a Class E felony, whereas other types of burglary are classified as Class D felonies. This bill reclassifies this type of burglary as a Class D felony and applies to offenses committed on or after July 1, 2024.
