Amends TCA Title 5; Title 6; Title 7; Title 8; Title 41 and Title 68.

Present law generally prohibits a first responder currently under employment with any municipality, county, or metropolitan form of government from being dismissed or penalized solely on the basis of nonresidence in such local government. However, this provision does not apply to Davidson, Knox, Moore, or Trousdale County. This bill deletes these exceptions. Present law prohibits a local government from dismissing, disciplining, fining, or penalizing a first responder employed by a local government, or denying employment to a person applying to be a first responder, based on where the first responder or person applying to be a first responder resides. However, Hamilton County is not included in the meaning of "local government" in this provision. This bill deletes the exception for Hamilton County.
