This bill authorizes level 3 transports to be staffed with one advanced emergency medical technician (AEMT), and level 4 transports to be staffed with one emergency medical technician (EMT), as long as there is an ambulance operator in addition to the AEMT or EMT who is certified to operate vehicles as an emergency medical responder. This bill provides that (i) the above provision only applies to non-emergency transport services, (ii) the ambulance operator qualified to operate a level 3 and level 4 transport in accordance with this bill must be employed on a part-time basis only; and (iii) any employment contracts entered into with emergency medical responders for the operation of level 3 and level 4 transports must not exceed one year in duration.
