Amends TCA Title 4, Chapter 54; Section 36-3-625; Section 38-3-119; Title 39 and Section 40-14-109.

This bill provides that a person commits a Class A misdemeanor, which is punishable by no more than 11 months, 29 days or a fine not to exceed $2,500 or both, if the person:<br /> <br /> (1) Purchases or attempts to purchase a weapon of war; or<br /> <br /> (2) Sells or offers to sell a weapon of war.<br /> <br /> "Weapon of war" is defined in this bill as any of the following: <br /> <br /> (1) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following: a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon; a thumbhole stock; a folding or telescoping stock; a grenade launcher or flare launcher; a flash suppressor; or a forward pistol grip;<br /> <br /> (2) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has a fixed magazine with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds; or<br /> <br /> (3) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has an overall length of less than 30 inches. <br /> <br /> This bill also clarifies that a weapon of war does not include an antique firearm. <br />
