Amends TCA Title 4, Chapter 54; Title 39 and Title 40.
This bill establishes as a Class E felony to knowingly receive, possess, conceal, store, barter, sell, transfer, or dispose of a firearm that has had the importer's or manufacturer's serial number removed, obliterated, or altered. However, it is not an offense under this bill for the following: (1) A law enforcement officer or law enforcement agency to confiscate and dispose of a firearm that has had the importer's or manufacturer's serial number removed, obliterated, or altered; or (2) A person to knowingly receive, possess, conceal, store, barter, sell, transfer, or dispose of a firearm that bears a serial number assigned to the firearm by the director of the TBI.
