ON MARCH 14, 2024, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #2 AND PASSED SENATE BILL 2377, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #2 rewrites the bill to, instead amend the present law definition of "rock harvesting" to (i) mean the removal of the minerals dimension stone, flagstone, fieldstone, landscaping stone, drystack stone, fagade, and marble, by an operator with or without machinery; and (ii) not include activity that is exempt from the Water Quality Control Act by state law.
