SB2621113th GA (Historical)Introduced

Amends TCA Title 37.

Present law requires the department of children's services ("department") to maintain staffing levels of case managers so that each region has enough case managers to allow caseloads not to exceed an average, to be calculated at least monthly, of (i) 20 active cases relating to initial assessments or (ii) 20 children monitored and supervised in active cases relating to ongoing services. This bill rewrites the above provision and requires, instead, that the department maintain staffing levels of case managers so that each region has enough case managers to allow caseloads do not exceed: (1) For the first six months following the effective date of this bill, the ratios described in present law; and (2) On and after the date that is six months after the effective date of this bill, (i) 14 active cases relating to initial assessments or (ii) 14 children monitored and supervised in active cases relating to ongoing services.
