SB0799Enacted

Amends TCA Title 2.

Tennessee SB0799 amends the nomination process for statewide political parties, requiring them to nominate candidates for all offices with partisan elections in primary elections held during the regular August or November elections. The bill allows counties that previously used alternative nomination methods for certain elections in 2022 or 2024 to continue those methods, except for nominations for governor, members of the general assembly, U.S. senator, and U.S. house of representatives, which must be made through primary elections. Additionally, if a party in such a county does not use an alternative method in subsequent years, it must revert to the primary election process for nominations.
